Victoria & Ryan – Franklin Plaza

Months and months ago Victoria and Ryan met me at my favorite cafe near Albany, The Perfect Blend in Delmar, NY. We ended up chatting for almost two hours while we sipped on drinks and nibbled at pastries! From the moment I met them I knew their wedding day was going to be an absolute blast! Boy did they not disappoint!

As I walked in Victoria was getting the finishing touches done on her hair and I snuck in for a quick hug filled with excitement. All of the ladies wore matching flannels and were looking fabulous! I do feel the need to mention that Victoria is a dancer and throughout the day she did this shoulder shimmy move and it made me laugh every time! Now I started doing it every now and then when I get excited about something… thanks for the new dance move girl!!

Ryan and Victoria took a private moment away from everyone to have a first look and spend a few moments with each other before the craziness of the day began. They slow danced in a patch of grass by the river and held hands as they walked side by side looking at each other with nothing but love, hope, and happiness in their eyes. Their super fun bridal party joined in for some portraits shortly before it was time for them to get married! We walked across the street to Franklin Plaza, one of my favorite wedding venues, and hopped on the elevator for the rooftop. The view from that third floor rooftop is gorgeous and was the perfect spot for some fancy family photos! Then it was time to get married!

They said their personalized vows with their parents tearfully sitting in the front row and their best friends standing beside them. Remember the song Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon?  You know… “I felt it in my chest as she looked at me
I knew we were bound to be together, bound to be together.”  They had a guitar version of this song playing as they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife. Little did they know this song is making an appearance at my sister’s wedding next year and I almost burst into the happiest tears. I choked them back in hopes of not looking like a complete weirdo! This song has a special meaning to me because the first time I heard it was at my very first wedding I ever second shot with a friend of mine out in Massachusetts. Now it’s played at almost every wedding I attend and it will soon be a very special song for my sister and her fiancé, which just puts the icing on the cake!

Once all the family photographs were finished after the ceremony, we stepped outside for a little bit to get that beautiful golden hour light for their final portraits of the evening. Let’s chat about that for a second because OH MY GOODNESS they may be some of my favorite portraits ever taken! You’ll see what I mean when you scroll through the photos in a minute! These two could have been professional models because, to put it simply, they crushed it!!

To kick the dance party off, Ryan had a little something up his sleeve for Victoria. He planned a flash mob which was the coolest things I think I have ever seen at a wedding! It wasn’t long before Victoria joined the party and the dance floor is where they stayed for the rest of the night, with some help from DJ Chris Johnson of course! To sum it all up, it was simply perfect!

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Wilkinson!!!
