You know that couple who you want to be friends with because they are the nicest people and you can tell how much in love they are? Or the couple who you look at and immediately think “relationship goals”? That’s Maggie and Devin!
Maggie and I met way back in 2013 during an effective speaking class at SUNY Broome! Although we may not have seen much of each other over the last 7 years I was beyond thrilled when she reached out to me after getting engaged to Devin! We met at a local coffee shop and got caught up on everything that had happened over the last few years. During this meeting, I got to meet Devin for the first time!
As we sat and chatted I watched blissfully as the two of them interacted with each other. They smiled and laughed and were just so in love with each other, it was amazing to witness! They told me about their plans for their big wedding happening on November 8th, 2020, their love of cats, and their passion for homemade beer. I remember leaving this meeting full of joy not only for the two of them but that I got to be a part of their big day!
When COVID-19 made it’s debut in the world, Maggie and Devin were pretty proactive and very early on decided to alter their plans to have a significantly smaller wedding celebration. Their venue became her mom’s backyard and their guest list dwindled down to 50 people. Then just about two weeks before their wedding, a new restriction was implemented which forced them to cut their guest list, again, to a max of 25. I truly am so impressed at how these two handled the never ending changes that they were forced to make. Maggie took every precaution she could have imagined to make sure everyone felt comfortable!
Although their original vision for their wedding was dramatically altered I feel confidant in saying this was one of the best days of their lives! I fell as though I can say this because as I photographed them throughout the day you could sense a feeling of joy, peace and excitement that they were finally husband and wife! As I went through and edited all of their photos I kept coming across of both of them looking at each other. Maybe I shouldn’t say they were just looking at each other, it was more like admiring each other!
Everything they planned for their wedding had meaning! All of Maggie’s details held some sort of significance that she held close to her heart. Devin’s brother, who was suppose to marry them, is currently in Las Vegas and had to perform their ceremony via zoom. They felt that they needed a judge there so in honor of the late RBG they dressed up their web came for all of the guests who could no longer attend. Even though some special people couldn’t be there they streamed their ceremony so everyone could still be a part of their big day! The vows they shared were personalized and perfect! Devin even brewed a special beer for him and Maggie with special hops that shared the same name with her brother who recently passed. Every single part of their day was incredibly special!
If you are reading this and you don’t know these two cool cats, you’re missing out on having some pretty wonderful people in your life! They’re beyond kind, super fun, and totally and utterly in love! Congratulations Maggie and Devin!
