Many months ago I reached out to Alyana and Tommy to see how they were feeling about their wedding since COVID-19 decided to take over 2020. Alyana’s response went something like this “We just want to be married so we’re sticking with our original date!”. Regardless of the restrictions that were put into place these two were getting married on October 10th, 2020! They are baseball fanatics so Cooperstown, NY was the perfect place to tie the knot. With the Baseball Hall of Fame being the main attraction in town and countless baseball activities everywhere you turned, they were in Heaven!
When I arrived, Alyana had all of her details beautifully displayed on a table for me to photograph! They had custom baseball bat cups and bride and groom masks to celebrate their wedding COVID style. Before they officially were husband and wife we did a bunch of photos of them and their families separately. Alyana and Tommy wanted to keep their big day as traditional as possible by seeing each other for the first time as she walked down the aisle.
While Alyana got into her dress, Tommy was having his portraits done in the front of the Otesaga. Then Alyana headed outside around the back of the Otesaga for her family portraits! Shortly after that it was time for them to finally get all married up!! Overcome with emotion, Alyana made a tearful walk down the aisle with her father while Tommy waited patiently and watched his bride make her way to him.
Tommy’s brother and Alyana’s cousin made up their bridal party. Their guest list of 40 people made their ceremony and reception an intimate affair! They shared handwritten vows and obviously had to incorporate baseball into their promises to each other. A zoom call was set up so the other guests who had to stay home were still able to witness the ceremony. Right after they were announced husband and wife they shared a special champagne toast for all the virtual guests that were celebrating at home!
When you get married at The Otesaga Resort it’s often out on the lawn by the lake. It’s overlooked by a gorgeous patio so the guests can sit out on and dine throughout the day. One of my favorite parts of Alyana and Tommy’s ceremony was when they were walking back down the aisle after they were married! As usual, all of the guests cheered for the newlyweds! But, once they walked past the last row of chairs an outbreak of hollers and claps came from all of the guests of the Otesaga who watched the ceremony from the patio. It gave me goosebumps and instantly made me tear! A world wide pandemic couldn’t rain on their love!
