Megan & Shane’s Adirondack Adventure Elopement
Nestled in the heart of the Adirondacks, Megan & Shane celebrated their intimate Lake Placid elopement. When planning their micro wedding, being in the mountains and hiking was a must! The ADK region is super special to them. So it only made sense that they planned to get married in Upstate New York on a mountain.
Sunrise Hike
We met at the trailhead at 4am on a Friday in May. Megan & Shane with their two dogs, Apollo and Arti, strapped on their backpacks, carried their wedding attire, and began their journey up the mountain to catch the sunrise.
Once we reached the summit, they changed into their wedding dress and suit. They shared a first look while the sun began illuminating the mountains in the distance. It was magical! Shortly after, we set up for their breakfast picnic. There’s just something about having your coffee and breakfast at the summit of an Adirondack mountain on your wedding day. It’s one of my favorite elopement activities my couples do on their wedding day.
Before we began our descent, we spend some time capturing portraits of Megan & Shane with their pups with a beautiful Adirondack mountain range in the background. We had the mountain pretty much all to ourselves so they had plenty of privacy and solitude.
The second location for their Intimate Lake Placid Elopement
After Megan’s sister met us to bring the dogs back to their Airbnb, we began our journey to Adirondack Loj for our second hike. When planning out their day I recommended that we pick one location that was on top of a mountain. For the second location, I suggested that we pick a spot in a valley where the mountains were in the background to give them a variety. So that’s just what we did!
Once we arrived at our second location of the day, they changed out of their hiking clothes and back into their wedding attire. With Colden Mountain, Megan and Shane shared their private vows in a tall grassy field with no one around. As an Adirondack elopement photographer, I try to find locations where there is plenty of privacy for my couples. We didn’t see anyone else for the entire time we explored this area!
After spending some time taking wedding portraits, they popped champagne in celebration! Then it was time to head back to their Airbnb for a midday nap before their reception with family and friends that evening.
Lake Placid Micro Wedding Reception
With 11 family members surrounding them, Megan & Shane held their ceremony at Blue Pepper Farm. A stunning Adirondack view served as their background as they shared their vows in front of their loved ones and officially became husband and wife! Their intimate ceremony and micro-wedding reception were stress-free, beautiful, and laid back.
Take Home Cheffy provided a delicious dinner and his staff were delightful! To wrap up their Lake Placid mountain elopement, we popped outside for some sunset photos on the farm. They then cut their wedding cake, sealed it with a kiss, and ended their day as a married couple!
