With the Adirondack mountains and serene lakes in the background, Alex and Joe decided to celebrate their love with a micro wedding in Lake Placid. They had been to so many traditional weddings in the past and wanted something different and more in line with their personalities. Their families are super important to them so they also wanted to celebrate their big day with their loved ones. They enjoy thoughtful but simple experiences so planning an elopement fit their personalities perfectly! The intimate wedding that we put together was the perfect balance of time alone with each other while also spending time with their family in Upstate New York.
Getting Ready for their Intimate Wedding
An A-frame house in the heart of the Adirondack Region was where they had a relaxing morning surrounded by nature. A few family members popped by while they began getting ready to say hello and give them hugs on their wedding day. While ADK Bri put the final touches on Alex’s hair, Joe started getting ready to see his bride! Once this bride and groom were ready to go, they shared a private first look right outside their Airbnb. After some quiet moments and a tender embrace, they exchanged gifts. A stunning gold bracelet and a unique watch were given to each other as a symbol of love on their wedding day.
Mountain Views
One of the things that was important to them was to get photos with epic mountain views! I knew just the spot to take them that required no hiking but had views for miles. Even though it was the middle of June, the top of the mountain was a chilly 49 degrees with wind. So we didn’t stay at the summit long before heading out to our next location.
Private Vows
Although Alex and Joe were having an intimate ceremony with their families, sharing vows privately was important to them. Our next stop was in Keene Valley where there was no one else around! They had this beautiful field near Lake Placid all to themselves as they said their vows. Vows that were filled with meaningful words and funny moments in their relationship.
Before heading to their ceremony by the lake, it was time for a little lunch! These two dined on some of their favorite snacks during their elopement picnic. Once I took a few photos, I gave them some space to have some quality alone time on their wedding day! When they were ready, we got back into the car, made a quick pit stop for more photos and then it was off to their ceremony!
Intimate Wedding Ceremony in the Adirondacks
Alex’s brother was chosen to be their officiant and to perform their ceremony. They selected a beautiful location by a lake in Lake Placid for their intimate wedding ceremony. Their parents, siblings, and two nephews surrounded them as they made their marriage official! Just as their ceremony ended, the evening winds picked up. So with a little spontaneity, we all went back to their parent’s Airbnb for some family photos!
Micro Wedding Reception in Lake Placid
Alex and Joe’s family set up chairs and decorated tables for their micro wedding reception dinner at their Airbnb. They strung lights for a romantic feel while they dinned outside with a view of the mountains. Their private chef served up a delicious dinner that everyone enjoyed. Champagne toasts were shared with the newlyweds as their nephews ran around the yard. They ended the night with a bonfire and sparklers while wearing custom sweatshirts with their dog, Kirby, embroidered on the front. Alex and Joe’s elopement in the Adirondacks was relaxed, stress-free, and fun for everyone!
