What to do in New Orleans
New Orleans needs requires a few days to adventure and explore. I was only there for two days in the French Quarter so the adventuring was slim but I did come across some cool places!
The Moxy Hotel – For a unique hotel experience I recommend The Moxy! From the moment you walk through the door you know you’re going to have a good time just in the hotel alone! Upon check in you get a complimentary signature drink, which was pink and delicious! The rooms are modern with an edgy flair to match the main lobby. It was complete with a foosball table, giant Jenga, and Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em just to name a few amenities!
Drink a Hurricane – A staple of New Orleans is their hurricane drink and I approve! It’s delightfully fruity and it perfect to get get in a foam cup to take to go while you continue to explore! They’re quite famous for it in Louisiana so it’s a must try.
Go see live music – Never in my life have I experienced the thrill of seeing live music New Orleans style. when I went with some friends we stumbled onto a town that was bustling with people. There was one place in particular that was lite up with sound! The musicians are out of this world! The woman who was singing was hypnotizing and sent chills throughout your whole body while the man on the saxophone has everyone moving. I was so entranced by their talent I didn’t even notice Josh Duhamel (a famous actor… a.k.a. the dad in Safe Heaven) walk right behind me.
Try crawfish – They may not look appetizing to some people especially because they have lots of legs and are basically mini lobsters, kind of. BUT trust me on this! A friend of mine who lives in Louisiana bought some for us to try and they were insanely delicious. Find someone who has lived there a long time to teach you the proper way to eat a crawfish!
Get some beignets at Cafe Du Monde – If you like fried dough you’re going to love some fresh beignets from the famous Cafe Du Monde! The line will probably be pretty long but it goes quite fast. Make sure you aren’t wearing any dark colors when you try to eat them because the powdered sugar get everywhere, but that’s half the fun!
