A small town Newark Valley boy and a city Troy, NY girl met about nine years ago at the University of Albany. This is where their love story began and where it brings us today! I’ve had the honor of getting to know Jaime and DJ throughout their relationship for the last nine years. I haven’t been around them a whole lot but Jaime is one of my sister‘s best friends and so I felt like I’ve known her for a long time. DJ I’ve known for quite some time as he graduated from the same small-town high school that I did just a couple years before me.
Their wedding day was one that a lot of people had been waiting for, for quite some time. As the story goes… they were supposed to get married last year but due to Covid they extended their engagement so that they could celebrate with all of their family and friends together at Key Hall. From shooting their engagement session I had a really good feeling that their wedding day was going to be one for the books! A whole other layer of excitement was added when I realized that it was basically going to be a high school reunion with a bunch of teachers and fellow alumni that I haven’t seen in almost 10 years!
I loved watching Jamie and DJ interact with each other throughout the day. There’s no doubt that these two are completely meant for each other. From their close knit family relationships to the strong bond they have with their friends, it’s obvious that their love for each other extends to the people who are closest to them. This was also shown by the small details that they incorporated into their wedding day. DJ wore some of his grandfathers cufflinks while Jamie had pieces from all of their grandmother’s weddings tied around her bouquet to carry with her all day long. It’s the little touches, such as these, that people may not see but are beyond meaningful.
We spent a good part of the day on Jay St. in Schenectady doing all of their pictures from bridal party portraits to bride and groom pictures and family photos as well. I’m pretty sure not single thing went wrong during the whole day! The bride and groom were absolutely stunning! The weather was perfection and the dance floor was packed all night long!
The maid of honor and best man gave the perfect speeches that were the right amount of humorous and sentimental. So many tears of joy were shed throughout the whole day, some of them also coming from me. As I began editing their photos I couldn’t help it tear up again at some of the special moments that happened and all the love that you could feel through these images.
Being able to document each moment throughout their wedding day is some thing that I’ll hold near and dear to my heart! I’m so excited to see what the next couple decades have in store for the new Mr. and Mrs. Giblin!!
