It’s stories like Nick and Danitra’s that always makes me feel that life works in mysterious ways. Although they met during Danitra’s senior year in high school, they didn’t reconnect until many years later. After a move to Florida for almost a decade while Nick stayed in New York, something happened. A bouquet of flowers on Valentine’s Day was the one thing that changed their lives forever!

After spending every possible day together not long after Nick bought Danitra flowers, their relationship blossomed! They then went on an Alaskan adventure, moved in together and on Christmas morning, Nick popped the question. He hid the ring in the cushion of the couch so Danitra wouldn’t notice a little wrapped box. The rest is history!

We celebrated with engagement pictures one an incredibly windy day by the Hudson River. I thought I ordered in some Beyonce wind but apparently asked for too much! Honestly though, for as crazy as it was, the wind was perfect! Then the sun poked through the clouds for the dreamy golden hour light of perfection! These two giggled so much during the time we had together which then made me laugh just as much.

Sometime last year I happened upon a gorgeous spot while I was out for a run one day. Every time I went to this location I’ve always through how perfect it would be for a shoot. Well, my vision finally came to life thanks to Danitra and Nick! Who would have thought that a boat launch on the Hudson River next to some Erie Canal locks would make for a perfect photo spot?! As perfect as this was during the Winter, I’m sure this will be just as amazing when the grass is green and trees begin to bloom again.
