Dockside Vows & Mountain Elopement

Michelle & Jason’s Saranac Lake Elopement

Michelle and Jason’s two-day Saranac Lake elopement was the perfect mix of laid-back lake life and heartfelt connection. These two outdoor-loving souls, along with their adorable pups Boone and Nero, turned their wedding into a relaxed weekend getaway in the Adirondacks surrounded by mountains, water, and the people (and pets) they love most. Their dockside vows and mountain elopement turned out to be an incredible way to spend their wedding day!

And while the rain made an early appearance, the skies cleared just in time for an absolutely magical day.

A Cozy Start to Their Elopement Weekend

Elopements don’t have to be rushed—and Michelle and Jason proved that with a slow, sweet start on day one. Their Airbnb offered the perfect lakeside backdrop for an afternoon of coffee in bed, and time soaking up the calm with their two playful puppies. Although the rain disrupted their initial play they embraced the water and danced in the rain, champagne in hand!

Getting Ready in the Heart of the Adirondacks

On the morning of their wedding day, the sun finally broke through the clouds. I arrived at their Airbnb to photograph all the little details. Michelle’s finishing touches, rings, florals, and of course, plenty of playful puppy pictures while Michelle and Jason got ready. They got ready together before heading out for some ADK mountain views.

Private Vows with Adirondack Views

Our initial plan was to go on a hike not far from their Airbnb. But because of the slippery and muddy conditions it wasn’t safe to do so. My backup plan was to take them to a hidden gem near Lake Placid with gorgeous mountain views. They were so excited to be able to still have mountain top views without the hike! Here they exchanged vows privately and we spent some time taking wedding day portraits.

It was super important to Michelle to say their vows on top of a mountain. Her parents did this when they were married and since her mom is no longer with us, it was even more meaningful.

A Quick Toast at The Rusty Nail During A Dockside Vows & Mountain Elopement

Before heading back for their ceremony, the couple made a quick stop! We pulled into The Rusty Nail in downtown Saranac Lake for a celebratory drink with the locals. This dive bar is a favorite for a reason—great vibes, cold drinks, and friendly faces. It gave Michelle and Jason a moment to breathe and just be together before the rest of the evening unfolded.

A Dockside Ceremony at Golden Hour

Their ceremony took place on the dock at their Airbnb. Jason’s mom officiated the intimate celebration. With just a few close family and friends present, they exchanged rings with the sun dipping behind the trees and the lake shimmering in the background. Their dogs, Boone and Nero, happily a part of their ceremony! This lakeside wedding ceremony was short and sweet. The kind of wedding that feels personal, meaningful, and natural.

Private Chef Dinner & Casual Hour

After a few post-ceremony photos with family, everyone changed into more relaxed outfits! That’s the thing about elopement, you get the chance to be comfy and casual while also having a fancy outfit as well. It’s the best of both world! Jason and Michelle hired a private chef, MTN Chef Catering, who prepared a delicious meal. The dishes were locally inspired, and full of flavor.

A Champagne Toast During A Dockside Vows & Mountain Elopement

To end the night, Michelle gave Jason a tutorial on how to properly sabrage their champagne. He took the sword and did it perfectly on the first try! They then filled a champagne tower and shared a toast with all of their guests!
