Intimate Wedding in Jay NY

For two people who don’t enjoy being the center of attention, an intimate wedding in Jay, NY was the perfect solution! Lainey and Dan wanted to spend their wedding day in a way that was meaningful to them. So surrounded by their immediate family, they tied the knot in a beautifully simple elopement ceremony. Spending some alone time during their micro wedding near Lake Placid was important to them. However, they also wanted to spend quality time with their family throughout their day. This bride and groom booked a weekend long stay at Whispering Pines Lodge! Not only themselves, but their family too!

Getting Ready at Whispering Pines Lodge

Dan and Lainey wanted a slow stress free morning. While some people hug out by the pool in the late morning, Lainey began getting her hair and makeup done by the one and only ADK Bri! If you’re eloping in the Adirondacks, you must contact Bri for hair and makeup services. Not only is she incredibly talented, she’s kind, accommodating and a joy to work with!

Lainey’s best friend, Francesca, helped her get ready as her maid of honor. There’s always something super special about having your chosen family around you on one of the biggest days of your life! Everything Lainey had planned for her intimate wedding in Jay NY was done with attention to detail. Her bright color palette was so fun and she incorporated it beautify. They even asked their guests to color coordinate for photos and I’m so glad she did!

When Dan and Lainey were ready, they shared a first look outside with view of the mountains behind them. Once they shared a few moment together, we hopped in the car and headed for Whiteface mountain!

Windy Wedding Photos at Whiteface

The summit at Whiteface mountain in Wilmington, NY is one of my favorite places to take my couples during their elopement. The views are stunning and there is no hiking required for beautiful mountain photos! Because of this, Lainey and Dan decided this was one of the location they wanted to visit during their Adirondack micro wedding. Taking photos here doesn’t require a permit. There isn’t a fee either, other than the entry fee to get onto the highway. There are some things you need to know when planning a Whiteface elopement so be sure to do your research!

For instance, the tops of mountains usually are a bit chillier and can come with some significant wind. Whiteface was a pretty clear day with 40 miles of visibility. However, it was super windy during Lainey and Dan’s wedding in Jay NY! Because of the elements, we didn’t spend a ton of time at the top of Whiteface. But we still were able to get stunning landscape photos!

Wedding Portraits at Marcy Field

Another one of my favorite locations in the Adirondacks for elopements is Marcy Field. It’s easy to get to and provides gorgeous mountain scenery with plenty of nearby spots for wedding portraits! We were lucky enough to have Marcy Field all to ourselves! The three of us spent time exploring the nature scenes and taking pictures. Because of the nature of elopements, portrait time was stress-free and not rushed. Running ahead of schedule, we finished portraits early! This way Lainey and Dan could head back to their Airbnb to relax and get ready for their ceremony!

Backyard Reception During an Intimate Wedding in Jay NY

When it was time for their wedding ceremony, everyone gathered in the backyard with a mountain view. Beautiful flowers were displayed and Lainey’s late mother was honored with a special chair and photo. A violin player serenaded them as they walked down the aisle. Their ceremony was short and sweet, just how they wanted it to be. Before we knew it, they were announced Husband and Wife!

After their ceremony we spent a short time doing family photos as the sun began to set. Then everyone induldged in cocktails and delicious appetizers from Smoke Signals in downtown Lake Placid. I stole the newly married couple away for some sunset portraits during their intimate wedding in Jay NY. While everyone mingled and got ready for dinner candid photos were captured filled with joy.

To end their wedding day, Lainey changed into a white sequin dress. She wanted something a little more cozy and fun to cut their cake in. From a bakery where they live they ordered a chocolate cannoli cake! They cut it together and shared a bite before rejoining their family to continue the celebration.
