Kelsey & Liam’s Adirondack Sunrise Elopement

Some people say mornings aren’t romantic. Kelsey and Liam would prove them wrong! This upstate New York adventure elopement began at 4:00am, under stars, quiet skies, and out in nature as the sun began to light up the mountains. As a Lake Placid elopement photographer, these early hours are pure magic! Kelsey & Liam’s Adirondack sunrise elopement was one for the books.

A Hike to Say “I Do”

We met while it was still dark. Liam carried flowers. Kelsey had a bow in her hair. Excitement and headlamps lit the way. At 4:45am, we hit the trail and were off to reach the summit!

They hiked side-by-side, laughing between deep breaths and gear shuffles. We reached the summit just in time for the sunrise. They sat on a blanket on the mountainside and made coffee in their Jetbolt while snacking on breakfast pastries. The mountains began to illuminate as they took in the view with some quiet moments before it was time to change for their first look!

They changed into their wedding attire behind a tree. Hiking boots to dress shoes. Leggings to lace. Liam’s first look with Kelsey was pure joy and full of love!

They stood on the summit surrounded by trees, views, and soft morning light. Kelsey held a bouquet of wild blooms from a local Lake Placid Florist. They exchanged personal vows, teared up, held hands and soaked in the moment.

Then we spent some time exploring the summit taking beautiful portrait against the mountainous skyline! We took our time, and soaked in all the views before toasting to their newly married status with champagne! Midday Break in the Adirondacks

When they felt ready, they changed out of their wedding clothes and we made our way back down. After an early morning start we built in a midday break into their timeline. Everyone took a much needed nap and a little relaxation!

Afternoon in Lake Placid

By 4:30pm, we met again at their family’s condo and it was time for round two! Their condo has been in Liam’s family for a lot time and he has so many memories here. So it was really important to them that we take some time for portraits around this special place.

They cut their cake on the lawn outside the condo, packed their bags, and then we made our way to downtown Lake Placid! We explored the main street on Mirror Lake and made a point to stop into their favorite ice cream shop, Emma’s Creamery, for a scoop or two to indulge in by the water.

Their family surprised them with a stay at the beautiful Mirror Lake Inn right on the water for a special little get away. Not only did we take pictures around this stunning property but they also took some quite moments to read letters their loved ones wrote them for their wedding day. Kelsey and Liam teared up as they read aloud the special words their family shared with them including well wishes for a happy marriage!
