A Picture from the Past – Vol. 12
Have you ever gone to a portrait studio for family photos and they make you lie down on a table that has blanket or carpeting on it? I have. Being the youngest meant I was the one lying on the bottom while my sister sat next to me with her arm over my back. All while my dad did the same pose as my sister but opposite. What on Earth my sister and I are looking at I couldn’t tell you but I know for a fact it was not the camera. It was probably my mom standing next to the camera trying to get my sister and I to laugh or smile and we gave it our best effort as you can see.
It must have been around Christmas time given my sister’s cheerful outfit and all of our long sleeves. I wouldn’t be surprised if my dad still had this long sleeve shirt, he tends to have a few piece of clothing that never seem to go out of style. I always rocked bangs as a little girl and tried them as a late teenager and was less than impressed. So instead I keep my 4 finger forehead bare for all the world to see.
It’s crazy to me how much has changed in the photography world since then. Of course you can still go to a portrait studio and lie down on a blanket or carpet if you want to but you now can take your family outside to update your portraits or even to a special location. You are able to include your pets and have a large number of people in one photograph and sometime multiple outfit changes. Part of me does want to create this photograph though, minus the bangs!
