How to Support Small Businesses

In a day where Target and Amazon are the top places to shop small business can often be forgotten. Don’t get me wrong, I love both Target and Amazon! Maybe a little too much some days. But when you purchase something from a small business it’s a different type of satisfaction. You know that you’re supporting someone’s dream when you buy a product or service from them. You’re putting food on their family’s table. Clothes on their children’s bodies. Paying their bills. When buying from a big box store, we’re all just making the rich guy, richer.

There are tons of ways to support small business and many of them won’t cost you a penny. Here are 5 ways you can support small businesses for zero dollars.

  1. Share their page on Instagram or Social Media.
  2. Write them a review on Google or Facebook.
  3. Interact & Comment on their posts.
  4. Tag your friends/family in their posts.
  5. Post a photo of their product or services and give them a shout out!

All of those thing above are free and help out business SO MUCH! Reviews and word of mouth referrals are our love language. How often do you buy or try something based off of a recommendation from someone else? I do it all the time. Knowing that someone has bought or tried something and them loving it, makes you want to try or buy it too.

As a small business owner myself, word of mouth referrals are my favorite type of referral! When I provide a service and my clients love it so much they they go tell al their friends is the best thing ever!

Now, there are obviously other ways to support small business but they’ll cost you some dolla dolla bills. Here are a few ways to support small business with cash.

  1. Do not ask for a discount.
  2. Purchase a gift card for a friend or family member.
  3. Buy their product or service.
  4. Pay Cash if you can. Processing fees are not our friends.
  5. Purchase a gift card for yourself to use at a later time.

We’ve all seen the or heard the phrase “When you buy from a small business an actual person does a happy dance”. I’m happy to say that this statement is true! It’s an incredible feeling every time someone decides to invest their hard earned dollars into my service or products.
