Time of Year

If you’d rather drive up Veterans Whiteface Memorial Highway rather than take the strenuous hike, the time of year needs to be considered. Unfortunately, during late Fall, Winter and early Spring this highway closes for safety reasons. There is often snow covering the mountain for a majority of the year and the steep inclined highway isn’t drivable. So if you’re planning to elope sometime between late May and early October, you can absolutely consider stopping at Whiteface for some epic elopement pictures!

Fees

After chatting with someone in charge of organizing elopements at Whiteface Mountain, there are fees associated with performing a wedding ceremony at the summit. However, you are able to take the journey up the mountain just take some beautiful elopement photos. The only fee you’ll need to pay is the entry fee to the highway. The current cost is $20/car including the driver, $20 for the next passenger and $10/person beyond the driver and passenger. For example, if it’s just two people, the fee is $40. If your elopement photographer is driving you and your partner, the fee would be $50. You will also need to call and reserve your date and time even if you’re just stopping for photos.

Let’s say you want to get married on the top of Whiteface! You can absolutely do that and it will make for such an incredible ceremony. There are some larger costs associated with that as well as a reservation that needs to be made. Each day they only allow a certain number of weddings to occur at the summit so before you select your date. It’s best to call and check their availability before locking an a date for your elopement. If it’s just you, your partner, an officiant and a photographer there is a $925 fee, which include insurance, plus the standard entry fee. There is an additional fee for more people which is $10/person plus their entry fee to the highway.
