Plattsburgh Elopement

Colin & Cassi’s Intimate Wedding near Plattsburgh

Rather than racing through their wedding day to say hi to all of their guests Cassie and Collin wanted a more laid-back wedding experience. They felt that an intimate wedding with just their immediate family members in a beautiful place was the best way for them to celebrate their love. They wanted to stress-free wedding day with a little bit of adventure and time to have fun with your family by a lake. Their Plattsburgh elopement consisted of hiking an Adirondack mountain and getting married lakeside with their families present.

Their very first date was at a taco shop and both of them said it was the best date they have ever had! Fast forward a few years when Colin proposed to Cassie at a restaurant in New Hampshire. It was just the two of them in an intimate setting. Which made sense that they want to celebrate the start of their marriage by eloping. They love the outdoors, hiking, boating, fishing, and skiing. But also enjoy relaxing and doing nothing but watching TV together with their Bernie’s mountain dog, maple, by their side.

Their Plattsburgh Elopement Adventure

As much as Collin and Cassie wanted to spend the day with her families, they also wanted a little alone time. So we spent half of their day hiking up a beautiful Adirondack mountain. Once we got to the top, they changed into their wedding attire. They shared a first look and had some private moments to take it all in. They wrote their own vows and wanted to share them privately with each other in a beautiful place. Since there was rain in the forecast, there was no one else on the mountain, and they had total privacy when sharing their vows! After that, we spent a little bit of time taking some portraits on the mountain before heading back to their Airbnb.

Lakeside Wedding Ceremony

Colin and Cassie‘s family set up their ceremony with a beautiful archway and some flowers from Trader Joe’s. Their Airbnb was right on a serene Lake, which was the backdrop for their ceremony. They had less than 20 guests, but each person made a huge impact on their wedding ceremony. Collins mom officiated well. Cassie’s father shared a reading. Their rings were passed around so they, each of their guests could put their love, well wishes, and hopes for this couple into their rings. They  ignited their own wedding candle with their parent’s wedding candles to honor the love that came before them.

After their ceremony, we took a few minutes to get some family portraits before heading out on Colin and Cassie’s boat for a celebratory cruise! Shortly before dinner, a few of their guests gave speeches and toasted to the new married couple. Their speeches were sentimental and funny in the perfect addition to the wedding day. At the end of the night they had a personal firework show on the lake!

Colin and Cassie’s Plattsburgh elopement was the perfect way to start their marriage. There is plenty of time for them to enjoy the little moments and take in all of the stunning views. Even though there was a chance for rain all day, non-was stressed because we had backup plans in place! I couldn’t be happier for them and I’m honored to have photographed their elopement in the Adirondacks!
