It all started in Binghamton, NY in 2012 at SUNY Broome. Kelsie and I were on the volleyball team and one of our other teammates had a really good friend named Chris. He came to all of our games and always hung out with us! It wasn’t too long before he joined our crew that there was a little something happening between Kelsie and Chris. Fast forward nine years and they finally celebrated their wedding day after getting married in 2020 in Florida, where they now live!
It was such an honor to photograph their wedding at the resort at Greek Peak! Partly because I was there when this all started and also because I just really like these two! I remember telling my second shooter, Nicole, that I had forgotten how much I really enjoyed Kelsie and Chris’s presence. They always seem to be upbeat, happy and full of love for one another! Nine years later it seems that nothing has changed except that their bond has grown even stronger.
Covid ruined their original plans of having their wedding in May 2020. They decided to get married anyway and postponed their wedding celebration to the following September. They said their vows to each other and sealed the deal near their home in Orlando, Florida. Then, they planned a big celebration where all of their friends and family came together for one big party to have the perfect brunch wedding!
I can’t tell you and the last time I photographed a brunch wedding. It’s quite possible that I never have. After being a part of Kelsie and Chris’s wedding day I’m pretty sure it was one of the coolest things ever! I’m a big brunch person anyways but to have a morning ceremony followed by a buffet of pancakes, bacon, eggs, yogurt, and donuts for dessert, was the perfect way I could think of to spend my Sunday!
They added a personal touch to their ceremony with a hand fasting ritual. Certain members of their family and bridal party were called up during the ceremony to place a specific colored ribbon over their hands. Each ribbon symbolized something for their marriage. It was super special and now they can hang the colored ribbons, that are tied together, in their home as a reminder of their love and everyone who is there to support them no matter what.
One of the first things Chris said to me when I saw him, after giving each other a hug, was you have to get a lot of pictures of the donut display because I’m really excited about it! Boy he was not kidding! That was the most epic display of donuts I have ever seen and the sugary scent was intoxicating! They found this company called Glazed and Confused Donuts in Syracuse, NY and picked the perfect Fall flavors to coincide with their autumn wedding day! Those donuts were absolutely a hit with all of their guests!
They also had a really unique bridal party that was a mix between guys and girls on both sides. To me, this truly exhibits the type of people Kelsie and Chris are. They have so much love for their family and friends. Each one of their individual friends have become best friends to not only that person but the other half as well. Their day could not have been more perfect from the beautiful fall weather to the yummy food and all the love that was shared throughout their entire day!
A huge congratulations goes out to Kelsie and Chris for tying a knot, again, and having the most perfect celebration they could’ve imagined!
