Beer Can Beach in Longboat Key, Florida is where photo dreams are made of! Think white sandy beach, peaceful, and very unique. When I asked Becca where she wanted to do her engagement photos Florida, where her and Tanner live, was the answer! They recommended we go to this beach and after looking at photos online, I was all in! This engagement session was pretty special because I was actually there when Tanner proposed. Not only was I there but I also got to document the whole thing!!
He proposed at his family’s lake house in Pennsylvania back in May of 2020. They were actually planning on moving to Florida shortly after this get together with his family. So, Tanner decided to go out with a bang! Well, I guess I should say pop because he popped the question! He got down on one knee on the dock overlooking the lake. Without any hesitation, Becca said yes!
A few months later, they secured their wedding venue and locked me in to photograph their wedding! Next was engagement photos! Because Florida is now their home, it only felt right that we incorporated the sunshine state in their photos. I traveled down to Sarasota, Florida and met them at a uniquely named beach. Beer Can Beach in Longboat Key! I was greeted by excitement and open arms as it had been well over a year since I saw both of them.
Since I saw them last, they extended their family with a four legged fur child, Ace! I’ve been watching him grow, thanks to Instagram and was so excited to meet this cute pup in person! I think he was just as excited to get out of the car. After a little bit of wrangling we got Ace to be still for a few photos and I’m obsessed!! I have to give a little shout out to Becca’s cousin, Joe, for dog sitting Ace while we did portraits of just the engaged couple! Bringing someone to watch your fur babies if you want them in your engagement photos is ALWAYS a good idea!
Taking photos of these two was a dream come true! We fought a little Beyonce wind but made it work to our advantage. It was clear that these two are true Floridians now because even though it was 60 something degrees out, they were cold. To be fair, I was wearing a jacket… but still. New York wears off quick when you get accustomed to Florida weather!
I truly cannot wait to celebrate these two next year, in 2022, at Hayloft at the Arch!
