Exploring new places for photoshoot is one of the many things I love about being a photographer. Mix that in with a love of travel and the possibilities are endless! For Tyler and Caroline’s engagement session we decided on Kaaterskill Falls. This state park is located in the Catskills in the town of Haines Falls. None of us had ever been here before which made it even more fun! Little did I know that there was a lake but during the Winter it’s completely frozen over. It’s actually part of a snowmobile trail and there were people walking on water!

Before Caroline and Tyler arrived, I went down a few paths to find a few photo spots within the park. My goal was to find the falls but because of a snowstorm a few days prior, trails were pilled high with the white stuff. Kaaterskill falls were a bit too far to get to for us this time. However, the trail to hike to the falls was absolute perfection! The way the sun shined through the trees was straight from a movie!

One of my very first questions for these two was if they were willing to walk on the frozen lake with me. They were all about it!! The only downside was the reflection of the snow was so bright so we only stayed for a short time at this spot. After a short snow covered hike the next spot I took them to was everything!

I forgot to mention that coincidently both Caroline and I were in Florida the day before! On two separate trips and staying in two different parts of Florida as crazy as that is. Which means that this 30 degree Winter day felt even colder for us. I was honestly surprised at how long they were able to brace the cold before needing a little time to warm up in the car. It was beyond worth it through because this Winter engagement session was everything!!

Just have to give a little shout out to the Catskill mountains for being so dang beautiful. Plus a huge thank you to the sun for peaking out that afternoon!
